Dear Dad and Amelia,

I think the war will end soon. Our army shrinks by the day. Everyone is leaving the army becuase no one believes in Lee or the cause anymore. we fought the best we could but there were just to many of them.

 1 day later
We just had the battle of Sailors creek. I got captured and I doubt this letter will get to you. My whole regiment died. im ready to come home. Im done with this war and everything about it. lees army is now tiny. This is because about 30,000 of us were captured and 6,000 killed.
